Dreams Uncuffed

Yeabsira's Vision

This project is aimed at kick-starting the implementation of Yeabsira Solomon’s vision. On March 30, 2018, while on missionary service in India, Yeabsira’s best friend accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage electric line. While attempting to wring his friend free from the electric line, Yeabsira was fatally electrocuted on March 30,2018.

Yeabsira was a man of purpose and vision. Yeabsira believed that every person on earth is born with a purpose. He knew his purpose in life: to help others discover their God-given life purpose. He strongly believed that he can impart God’s grace to others through the act of helping them in their worldly needs. He especially talked passionately about his eagerness to help children find their purpose in life. While visiting family in Ethiopia in December 2017, he was struck with the lack of public recreational facilities, such as parks, soccer fields, basketball courts, etc. that children can use during their spare time. Yeabsira saw this as an opportunity to test-run his vision. He often said, “you don’t need to know where your opportunities will come from. You just need to know what you’re going to do with them when they come.” And he knew what he wanted to do with the opportunity – establish a sports facility in Ethiopia that would allow children from low income families to be trained in sports, leadership, and faith both as an afterschool program and a summer camp. His plan was to expand this model throughout Ethiopia and around the world. Although we are heartbroken with the loss of such a generous, loving, and visionary son, we vow to keep his legacy alive by carrying out his vision.

This fundraising campaign is aimed at covering the start-up cost for the project - such as setting up a non-profit organization, developing plans, securing the location, and building basic infrastructure for initial use as after-school recreational facility.
